when that option is turned on, it auto shuts down power to other outlets when the TV power is shut off. very interesting point. I have a Logitech Revue box that runs Google TV which doesn't turn off without getting unplugged, so this surge protector actually does the job nicely. It does, however, confuses the Logitech Harmony remote.

I bought this item for the green power feature. So far the green power feature of this item is working as it should. I am happy with it except that it came in what appears to be a used state. There were scratches on this item and what appeared to be specks of white paint in one area on top of the unit. What's up with that? Are some of these used/reconditioned models being sold as new? If so, this isn't the first time this has happened to me purchasing through Amazon.

I am a big fan of the "Green Power" line of products from Monster. I purchased this one for a small TV system in my bedroom. I've got a TV, a Cable Box, a Bluray, an AppleTV and a small amplifier attached to it. It works as advertised. When I turn off the TV, this Monster units cuts the power to the peripherals. This particular model has 7 total outlets ... 1 controller outlet (on-all-the-time), 3 controlled outlets (go on and off based on the device connected to the controller outlet), and 3 regular outlets (on-all-the-time). Some items, like the cable box and AppleTV should not have the power disconnected, so it's nice to be able to do both from a single surge protector.

Best Features:
-Green Power feature cuts the power to peripherals when the TV (or other device) is turned off
-Surge Protection
-Built in mounting holes (although I use 3M Command adhesive strips to mount it to the wall)
-Compact, angled plug make it easy to plug in behind furniture

Drawbacks:
-Only 1 outlet suitable for "wall-wart" type transformer bricks

Summary:
This is a great implementation of a great idea. Why have your devices in standby-mode, consuming power when you don't have to. Turning those devices off completely saves a little electricity. This device makes it automatic.

Note: I have not measured the amount of electricity saved. It is likely to be a very small amount. But, I figure that every little bit counts.
